The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking an In Vivo Technician to join our dedicated Precision Research Model team at our Rensselaer, NY site.
The Pay Range: $22 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.
The Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

The Role:
The In Vivo Technician is responsible for performing various in vivo bio-methods and animal care procedures in support of research being conducted within the Services program. They will need to perform these procedures in their entirety on a regular basis and must be able to generate quality results in a timely manner. All procedures will be performed in accordance with established procedures and protocols, and complete documentation of all work will be required. Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills are a must for this role.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform various in vivo bio-methods, such as IV, IP, SQ injection, cell preparation; in addition to blood collection and tissue harvests
- Perform husbandry in various housing paradigms
- Execute project instructions such as: breeding diagrams, Project Charters, and more
- Maintains accurate records per project requirements in various databases
- Maintains detailed records of all procedures executed, samples collected, and samples received and shipped/transferred
- Is able to work with little direct supervision, ensuring that scientific and technical quality is maintained, timelines are met, and reports/results are submitted
- Perform weekend/holiday observations of the animal colony (on rotating schedule) checking all feed, water, recent surgery (if applicable), and performing various other non-surgical duties.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school, or technical experience at an equivalent level.
- AALAS Certifications, LVT/CVT preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ of relevant experience.
- Experience in a technical or specialized field requiring extended training to perform a wide range of assignments and resolve non-standard problems.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization.
