Job Summary:

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations of the firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance. This is a hands-on role responsible for budgeting and forecasting, managing cash flow, overseeing payroll and vendor payments, and working closely with firm leadership to provide clear financial insights. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable in a small professional services environment, and able to balance execution with strategic support.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, and cash management.
Oversee general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
Oversee monthly client billing, contract invoicing, and collections, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare financial statements, including income, expenses, and cash flow reports for leadership review.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings and year-end financial reporting.
Maintain and update client financial records, budgets, and forecasts.
Develop and implement processes for financial efficiency and internal controls.
Support leadership with financial analysis, budget planning, business decisions, financial performance, and recommend improvements.
Administer payroll and employee expense reimbursements.
Manage relationships with banks, vendors, and financial service providers.
Assist with annual audits and compliance documentation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a professional services firm.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and related financial management tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to present financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
