About Us:
The Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA) is a forward-thinking association dedicated to representing the interests of the lumber and building material supply industry in the northeastern United States. We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs to lead our advocacy efforts, shape our legislative strategies, manage our lobbyists, and champion the interests of our members in 6 states and at the federal level.
Responsibilities:
As the Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs at NRLA, you will hold a pivotal role in advancing the success of our association. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Coordinating and executing comprehensive legislative and regulatory strategies.
Advocating for the interests of our members in the complex world of state and federal legislatures.
Ensuring that our members' voices are heard, and their concerns addressed.
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who possess:
A Bachelor's degree (political science and/or communications preferred).
A strong background in legislative staff and/or lobbying experience.
Proficiency in interpreting and disseminating legislative and regulatory information.
Excellent public speaking and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational abilities, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
The skill to multi-task effectively and prioritize tasks.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and electronic lobbying tools.
Other Details:
This is a full-time HYBRID position requiring 2-3 days in the office each week.
Travel within the northeastern states and to Washington, D.C. is a part of the job.
The Director will oversee a full-time Legislative Coordinator.
Salary and Benefits.
NRLA offers a competitive benefits package, including a salary range of $100,000–$120,000 depending on experience, paid vacation, sick, health, dental, and life insurance, a condensed summer workweek, and a 401(k) with employer match.
