Overview:
Location: Remote with occasional travel to Albany, NY
Salary: $120,000 - $135,000
We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst who will support our client with the establishment and operationalization of data governance processes, standards, and controls across a large public sector environment. This role will support the development of policies, metadata and stewardship practices, and governance operating procedures that improve data quality, accountability, and consistency. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and organized facilitator who can translate strategy into clear documentation, actionable plans, and practical tools.
Duties:
- Translate data governance strategy into actionable processes, standards, and controls
- Draft, refine, and socialize data governance policies, standards, and standard operating procedures
- Support data governance forums, including councils, work groups, and committees, by preparing agendas, documenting notes, and maintaining decision logs
- Define and document metadata standards and support master data management and reference data processes
- Track action items, organize meetings, facilitate discussions, and manage follow-up communications
- Develop implementation plans and roadmaps for data management and governance initiatives
- Create and maintain business glossary and metadata management toolkit materials
- Develop stewardship RACI matrices, training materials, and communications artifacts
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to promote adoption of governance practices and ensure alignment across teams
- Produce clean, clear, and well-structured written deliverables with minimal revision needed
Mandatory Qualifications:- Associate’s degree or combination of experience and education
- 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience drafting policies, standards, procedures, or other formal governance documentation
- 2+ years of experience supporting governance bodies, working groups, committees, or cross-functional stakeholder meetings
- Experience translating strategic objectives into operational processes, controls, and deliverables
- Experience with metadata management, business glossaries, data stewardship, or related governance frameworks
- Strong project coordination skills, including action item tracking, meeting facilitation, scheduling, and documentation
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality deliverables with minimal rework
Desirable Qualifications: - Experience in healthcare environments
- Experience supporting Medicaid-related programs or initiatives
- Experience working with New York State Medicaid
- Experience developing governance training materials, communication plans, or stakeholder engagement resources
- Familiarity with master data management and reference data practices
- Experience supporting implementation planning or roadmap development for enterprise data initiatives
