The Chemistry Intern in the Process Technology department will work closely with Lead Chemists in the Pilot Plant laboratory. The intern will gain hands-on experience in an industrial chemical laboratory, supporting chemical reactions, routine analytical testing, and laboratory inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support material performance and application testing
- Assist with polymer reactions and pilot-scale experiments
- Participate in test method development
- Perform quality control and routine analytical testing
- Maintain laboratory inventory and documentation
- Laboratory & Technical Exposure
Interns may gain experience with the following instrumentation and techniques:
- ICP
- GC / GC-MS
- Tensile testing equipment
- DMA
- FT-IR and TGA-IR
- Rheometry instrumentation
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
The intern is responsible for their own safety and the safety of others at all times. They must adhere to all applicable EH&S regulations and laboratory safety practices, participate as required in safety audits, incident investigations, and PHA/HAZOP studies, and complete all assigned safety training in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Chemistry degree program
- Completed at least one year of a four-year college or university program (rising Juniors or Seniors preferred)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States
- Able to complete pre-employment background check and drug screening
