Position Overview
AKIVA is seeking an IT Support Specialist for a temporary assignment supporting a public sector client in New York’s Capital District. You will provide desktop support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assist with Office 365 administration, and ensure staff have the technology resources they need to operate effectively. AKIVA provides AI-powered IT support tools including intelligent diagnostics and automated knowledge base search. Training is fully covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 desktop support for staff across multiple locations
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and printer issues
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop/laptop systems and peripherals
- Administer Microsoft Office 365 accounts, licenses, and permissions
- Manage help desk tickets, prioritize requests, and document resolutions
- Assist with network connectivity troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, VPN, LAN)
- Support onboarding/offboarding by setting up or decommissioning user accounts and equipment
- Leverage AI-powered diagnostic tools and knowledge bases to accelerate issue resolution
Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years of IT help desk or desktop support experience
- Knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and Active Directory
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers)
- Familiarity with networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Strong problem-solving skills and customer service orientation
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Valid work authorization required
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
- Experience with ITSM/ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)
- Public sector or government IT experience
- Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions
