Compensation: $18-19/hr base + weekly credit card tips + daily cash tips
Average Total Hourly Compensation: $25–$29+/hr
We are seeking a highly efficient, detail-driven Back of House professional with at least 3 years of industry experience to join our scratch bakery and to-go café. This role requires a candidate who understands BOH discipline, kitchen flow, station readiness, and clean-down standards at a professional level.
You will be cross-trained immediately on both:
- Cold Sandwich Station (cream cheese production, station setup/portioning cream cheese half pints, making of cold sandwiches), relaying tickets/ orders to Hot Station
- Hot Sandwich Station (all hot and specialty sandwich execution, BOH prep production)
- Dish / Prep / Sanitation Management (dishes, organization, cleaning, BOH prep)
This position is ideal for someone who knows how to maintain pace without sacrificing accuracy, anticipates prep and inventory needs, and takes ownership of keeping a kitchen organized, sanitized, and operating at peak efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Cold Sandwich Station
- Prepare, portion, and stock all lox, vegetables, spreads, and cold sandwich components for the week
- Produce and package cream cheese, including potential weekly flavor development
- Meet assembly time benchmarks:
- ≤1 min per standard spread bagel
- ≤3 min per lox bagel once trained
- Coordinate and call tickets with Hot Station to ensure cohesive production flow
- Maintain strict station cleanliness and organization, including 2-door refrigeration management
Hot Sandwich Station
- Execute all hot menu items efficiently within target ticket times
- Breakfast Basics: ~5 min
- Bigger Bites AM/PM + Build-Your-Own: ~5–10 min
- Perform key BOH prep including:
- prepare roast beef, turkey, chicken salad, chicken cutlets, sauces/spreads, vegetable and protein prep
- Maintain inventory and organization of 3-door BOH refrigeration
- Receive and put away deliveries with accurate rotation and labeling
- Maintain clean, safe equipment and work surfaces; zero grease or food residue EOD
- Communicate BOH inventory and anticipated prep needs to Management Dishwashing / BOH Facilities (as needed)
- Maintain dish throughput and sanitation throughout service
- Manage waste removal and recycling processes
- Deep clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and restrooms daily
- Ensure no visible flour, food debris, or grease store-wide at EOD
Dish / BOH Maintenanance:
- Clean, sanitize, and organize kitchen utensils, tools, and items used daily
- Ensure cleanliness of BOH (frequent sweeps and wipe-downs of floors, tables, surfaces, etc.) throughout the day
- Help put away orders and deliveries as they arrive
- Change-out trash barrels throughout restaurant multiple times a day
- Maintain, clean, and organize bathroom on a daily basis
- Ensure there is no grease or food debris on floors, tables, surfaces at throughout the day and at the end of every shift
Required Experience & Skills
To be considered, candidates must have:
✔ 3+ years professional short order / hot line / sandwich assembly station experience
✔ Proven ability to manage multiple stations in a high-volume environment
✔ Strong command of kitchen sanitation and workflow efficiency
✔ Reliable transportation and impeccable attendance standards
✔ Ability to memorize and execute entire menu with precision
✔ Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for the duration of the shift
✔ Strong communication skills and collaborative kitchen demeanor
Culinary education is a plus, but not required.
