GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) helps drive continuous improvement through the engineering, maintenance, and production departments. The ME will help create processes and develop tools for implementing safety, quality, and cost improvements in the company. This role will work with the operations team to help facilitate equipment reliability, continuous improvement activities, and develop and execute training content in targeted areas. The ME is also involved in new equipment review, creation of operational and maintenance SOP/Work Instructions, and assists in setup of maintenance software. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help troubleshoot mechanical/hydraulic issues on factory floor equipment.
- Assist in reviewing quality nonconformances.
- Identify and execute activities such as Kaizen events, that focus on scrap reduction, utilization of Lean Tools (5S, SMED, visual controls, Value Stream Mapping) and overall continuous improvement of all production lines.
- Provide technical support to develop and implement new cost savings and waste elimination programs, as well as execute active projects.
- Lead cross functional teams to develop and implement process improvements through documenting and creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), and developing roles, responsibilities, and procedures that lead to standardization of work and improvements.
- Identify and work on capital projects involving new equipment or facilities upgrades.
- Develop and implement training programs and training content to improve the skillsets of employees.
- Lead larger projects focused on targeted and specific efforts to increase uptime and help improve throughput.
- Enforces conformance with safety rules and regulations.
- It is required that if you see or are made aware of a safety related issue or concern that you address it immediately.
- Involved with continuous improvement efforts regarding all aspects of safety.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, And SKILLS
- Be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Experience in leading continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Experience developing time studies, process flows, and aid in facility layouts.
- Experience leading capital projects..
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English language and be understood.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge and use of CNC equipment required.
- Knowledge of PLCs programming and any electrical background a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. An Industrial Engineering degree will be considered. Must possess at least 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing setting. CAD experience a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid NYS drivers license. Lean or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
