The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Scientist II position located within the New York State Office of Mental Health. The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a to fill a Research Scientist position at the New York State Office of Mental Health, Office of Population Health and Evaluation.
Responsibilities
The Early Psychosis Intervention Network (EPINET) is part of NIMH's creation of a national learning health care system (LHS) for providing early psychosis coordinated specialty care (CSC). CSC has been found to improve outcomes for individuals with first-episode psychosis (FEP). In NYS, CSC is provided through the OnTrack NY program which is supported by NYS OMH and NYS Psychiatric Institute. The candidate will join a team of NYS OMH staff and NYS Psychiatric Institute staff responsible for OnTrack NY program oversight, quality improvement, informatics and EPINET research. The candidates will be responsible for all phases of data management, data quality monitoring and development of informatics reports using Tableau. The candidate will leverage Medicaid claims and other variety of state administrative databases to support reporting and research analytics for the project. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist robust data infrastructure development for report development and analytics.
- Conduct data cleaning, matching and analysis to support EPINET research.
- Design and produce data visualizations and reports using Tableau.
- Apply statistical models or machine learning algorithms to analyze data.
- Collaborate with other researchers on research design, methods, analysis, and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in an appropriate field and two years of professional research experience in an appropriate field (appropriate fields include: Biostatistics, Public Health, Economics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a closely related field), or a Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Experience Should Include Professional Or Academic Experience With
- Analysis of Medicaid or large health datasets preferably in a data warehouse environment such as Oracle.
- Data management with SAS or SQL. Development of data visualizations and reports with Tableau.
- Advanced statistical methods or machine learning tools in Python or R.
