SUNY FMCC invites applications for a part-time HVAC/R Adjunct Instructor position beginning September 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching HVC101 – Electricity for HVAC/R and HVC102 – Fundamentals of Refrigeration. This role supports student learning in core HVAC/R principles and foundational technical skills.
Salary: $9,378 PER SEMESTER. There is the potential to teach additional courses in future semesters.
These courses include both lectures and laboratory components.
HVC101 focuses on fundamentals of electrical theory including magnetism, resistance, capacitance, Ohms Law, transformers, symbols and diagrams, electrical circuits, and motors, with an emphasis on circuits, schematics, motors and control devices typically found in heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning equipment.
HVC102 emphasizes refrigeration theory, technical operating knowledge, tubing skills, and service and problem-solving skills for refrigeration equipment and systems.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience.
· Relevant and current industry certification(s) from a recognized accrediting organization is a plus.
- College course work preferred, but not necessary.
- Previous teaching experience and/or completion of a relevant apprenticeship or military experience preferred, but not necessary.
