Job Description:
The position serves as a campus liaison and is responsible for assisting campuses in the resolution of problems and requests; training campus personnel in the use of multiple modules of the web-enabled Financial Management System (FMS) as well as the Statewide Financial System (SFS). This position is responsible for coordinating the proper flow of SUNY/Division of the budget certificates of allocation. The position will also assist other Controller's office staff in the maintenance of controls for the University-wide general ledger and accounting system, income fund reimbursable activity, system controls, inter-agency activity with other State agencies and testing and procedural write-ups for any new applications or programs within the University FMS and SFS.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Providing technical assistance to campus personnel regarding the operation of the web-enabled financial applications.
- Monitor and maintain the University-Wide budget certificate process including the system approval release of certificates, balancing and input of transactions. Reconciliation of current year, lapsed year and financial plan certificates, establishment of temporary allocation certificates and necessary provisional accounts.
- Resolution to campus problems with regard to specific transaction processing and initiating actions to resolve specific technical situations.
- Updating application procedure manuals.
- Preparing training manuals and providing presentations for new or changed web-enabled financial management processes.
- Providing specific campus personnel with step-by-step assistance with transactional procedures.
- Provide assistance to other Controller's office staff in the maintenance of controls for the University-wide Oracle general ledger and accounting applications, income fund reimbursable activity and application controls.
- Provide assistance and guidance to campuses and System Administration staff involving inter-agency activity with other State agencies.
- Participate in the testing of any new applications to the University-wide financial management system. Work with other Controller's office staff in the procedural write-ups for any new or modified applications to the University-wide financial management system.
- Process inter-campus and inter-agency journal vouchers.
- Participation in the Accounting/Budget/Bursar subcommittee's.
- Participation in the Statewide Financial Management (SFS) training and upgrade sessions.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
- Experience in higher education or financial administration desired.
- Experience utilizing Local Area Network (LAN), WEB enabled applications and personal computer applications for spreadsheets, word processing and database applications using Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, desirable.
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management, campuses and other agencies required; analytical skills and teamwork.
Additional Information
- This position will be located in Albany NY.
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $60,000 - $64,000 annually.
