Physical Therapist (Consultant Role)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (Consultant Basis – not an employee)
Collaboration: The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Clinical Services and the Day Program Director. There is no supervisory reporting relationship. Services are coordinated with Riverbrook leadership, nursing staff, and care teams. Riverbrook is a home for women with developmental disabilities. Riverbrook DOES NOT pay you - you bill the client's insurance or families and we would give you that info. We have five or six clients here you could see one day a week. Our usual day is Tuesday but we could be flexible. We would provide you with lunch. You would absolutely love working with our residents in this mansion in the heart of Stockbridge! You must:
- Hold an active Massachusetts Physical Therapy (PT) license
- Be enrolled as a Massachusetts Medicare Part B provider
- Obtain approval of the Riverbrook address as a valid Medicare practice location through the Medicare enrollment system (PECOS)
- Maintain professional liability insurance that includes coverage for services provided at the Riverbrook location.
Job Summary
The Physical Therapist provides evaluation and treatment services to individuals requiring physical therapy within Riverbrook programs. Services are based on the therapist’s clinical assessment and delivered in collaboration with the individual, their guardian, and Riverbrook staff.
The Physical Therapist is responsible for developing individualized plans of care, providing skilled interventions, and maintaining ongoing communication to support continuity of care. Treatment frequency is determined by clinical need in coordination with the individual and care team.
The Physical Therapist contracts directly with patients, families, and/or guardians. Riverbrook Residence, Inc. is not responsible for billing transactions.
Scheduling
Services are provided on a flexible schedule during daytime program hours and are based on the needs of the individuals served.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain informed consent from patients or legal guardians prior to initiating treatment and we would give you contact info and assist with that
- Perform and document initial evaluations, including review of prior physical therapy records and clinical assessment/diagnosis
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings
- Establish goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reassessment
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions based on clinical assessment and patient needs
- Monitor and evaluate response to treatment and modify the plan of care as indicated
- Communicate findings, progress, and updates with guardians and Riverbrook nursing staff
- Refer to appropriate medical providers when findings are outside the scope of physical therapy, using clinical discretion in communication with patients to avoid unnecessary concern
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment summaries
- Provide at minimum, a monthly written report summarizing treatment, progress, and updates for inclusion in the individual’s clinical record
- Provide training and consultation to Riverbrook staff as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts Physical Therapy license
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, reliability, flexibility, and ability to work independently in a consultative role

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
