We're Hiring: Adolescence IDD Assessor!
We are hiring CANS Assessors to support a statewide initiative aimed at evaluating and enhancing services for youth (ages 21 and under) with IDD. In this role, you’ll conduct in-person assessments using the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) tool in home and community-based settings.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct in-person CANS assessments in homes and community settings.
- Travel throughout the NYC region to meet with youth, families, and caregivers.
- Use a person-centered approach to evaluate strengths, needs, and developmental concerns.
- Gather information from caregivers, service providers, and relevant records to complete the assessment.
- Accurately document findings in state-mandated systems while meeting compliance standards.
- Coordinate language access services as needed.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards defined by the program.
What You Need
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (required)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year working directly with children and/or adolescents with IDD (required)
- Experience with assessments or the CANS tool (preferred)
Skills
- Strong communication, decision-making, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and travel within the region
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, email, and web-based platforms
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
Other Requirements
- Valid NYS Driver’s License or NYS ID card
- Willingness to travel for in-person visits
