Pearl's Bagels & Bakery is looking for an Assistant Team Leader to join our team! Someone who has an exceptional work ethic, great initiative, a sense of humor, has a positive attitude, easily adaptable, has incredible attention to detail, enjoys a fast-paced environment and making community connections. We are looking for someone who has outstanding customer service skills. Beyond cashing someone out or making a coffee, we are looking for someone who engages with guests and remembers first names and helps lead our internal team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Open cash register; count and distribute tips; close-out register
- Go above and beyond to make our guests feel welcome
- Check in all deliveries, pay-out deliveries when required, oversee all deliveries are put away immediately upon arrival
- Memorizing and thorough knowledge of menu offering and ingredients / suppliers
- Master barista requirements (hot/cold latte, cappuccino, accurately executing specialty drinks)
- Exceptional sales person who is excited and motivated to educate and sell-to-consumers
- Ensure accurate inventory levels, actively maintain inventory list
- Oversee and ensure insanely high cleanliness expectation levels from Back-of-House through Front-of-House on a daily basis, no exceptions-- every day.
- Ensure that all all pre-orders are packed before start of service
- Ensure baked goods display before store opens, set-up front-of-house for service, prepare coffee, turn TV menu on, make flavored syrups, pour juice, etc.
- Oversee / execute perfect assembly of packaging (bags and boxes, throughout service and at EOD)
- Legibly and accurately handwrite daily specials board
- Ensure constant cleanliness, sanitization and restocking of all public-facing areas / FOH numerous times per shift, whenever required
- Utilize TOAST P.O.S. interface to accurately and quickly take orders
- Accurately and quickly handle cash transactions
- Accurately and efficiently make coffee drinks, maintain coffee area, ingredients, equipment, and stock
- Accurately take pre-orders for future pick-up dates and create pre-order boxes / bags as needed
- Quickly and accurately pack baked goods, bagels, and other items for customer orders
- Quickly and accurately run orders to corresponding customers
- Take initiative to help other team members

Pay: Depending on experience, the starting base pay is $18-19/hr+ tips. With credit card tips alone, the average hourly rate is $28-$32+. Credit card tips are added directly onto a weekly paycheck. Additionally, service employees receive daily cash tips.
Hours: Hours are subject to change based on the individual skillset and drive of employee. If you are a rockstar, you will be rewarded.
Shifts will be largely scheduled for Wednesday-Sunday between the hours of 5:30am-2:30pm. Additional hours may be scheduled.
Tentative Schedule: Wednesdays (scheduled shift block 5:30-11:15 or 10:00am-close); Thursdays (scheduled shift block 5:30-11:15 or 10:00am-close); Fridays (scheduled shift block 5:30-11:15 or 10:00am-close); Saturdays 10am-close. *must be available Wednesday - Saturday, shifts scheduled based on need, more hours possibly available.
Requirements:
- Must be 18+ years old
- Must have a car or reliable transportation, shifts STARTS at 5:30am. It is critical that you arrive and are ready to work at 5:30am.
- Previous experience in customer service or food service is required
- Must have prior restaurant/ coffee shop management before
- Must be able to lift 50lbs or more
- Must be able to work in an environment that handles nuts and gluten
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices is essential
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems is a plus
- Must have references
