The Training and Curriculum Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality curricula, training, and technical assistance to support providers of Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) , Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) services , and other rehabilitation providers across New York State. This role supports workforce development, ensures fidelity to recovery-oriented practices, and strengthens the capacity of providers to deliver person-centered, evidence-based psychiatric rehabilitation services. Lived experience with the mental health system preferred. Salary $75-$80K Remote within NY State
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development
- Design and update curricula, training modules, toolkits, and resources for providers.
- Ensure training materials are recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and consistent with OMH and Medicaid guidelines.
- Translate regulatory and program requirements into practical tools for direct service providers and supervisors.
- Training Delivery
- Develop and facilitate engaging trainings for diverse audiences, including practitioners, supervisors, and leadership.
- Deliver both in-person and virtual training sessions, workshops, and learning collaboratives.
- Apply adult learning principles and interactive strategies to maximize skill-building and application.
- Technical Assistance & Implementation Support
- Provide individualized and group technical assistance to agencies implementing PROS and CORE services.
- Assist providers with practice integration, documentation standards, workflow redesign, and quality improvement efforts.
- Act as a subject matter expert on and recovery-oriented practice models in Medicaid reimbursement environments.
- Collaboration & Systems Support
- Partner with state agencies, provider organizations, and stakeholders to strengthen service delivery statewide.
- Contribute to workforce development initiatives, policy discussions, and system transformation projects.
- Monitor emerging best practices and integrate them into training and curriculum development.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in social work, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, education, public health, or related field (Bachelor’s with significant relevant experience considered).
- Experience:
- Minimum three years’ experience in behavioral health, psychiatric rehabilitation, or recovery services.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, instructional development, and adult training.
- Knowledge of PROS and CORE service models in New York State strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate policy and clinical standards into accessible training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with e-learning platforms and training technologies.
Preferred Qualities
- Familiarity with Medicaid reimbursement structures and regulatory frameworks for PROS and CORE.
- Experience providing technical assistance at the provider or system level.
- Commitment to advancing recovery-oriented, person-centered, and peer-integrated practices.
