🎯 About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated
Leave Specialist to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Leave Specialist coordinates the support for all leave of absence cases. Effectively coordinates all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, New York State Paid Family leave and all related employment laws. Performs exemplary customer service and assistance to employees, directors,’ and senior managers. Provide assistance to Employee Health in the management of Worker’s compensation leaves.
🔍 What You’ll Do
- Serves as the central resource for all leave programs and coordinates leave management with other benefit and pay programs in collaboration with members of the benefit team.
- Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, Paid Family Leave (NYS PFL) ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.). Ensure that the leave management component for employees out under Workman’s compensation is managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers’ compensation laws.
- Provide assistance to employees to prepare for upcoming leaves and management of their leave while out of work. Conducts/coordinates inquiries on behalf of employees and/or managers. Responds to leave related inquiries in a timely manner.
- Approves and/or denies leave cases based on relevant medical information. Consults with other members of the benefit team to ensure appropriate decision making on complex cases. Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed. Works closely with employees to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review. Maintains appropriate contact with all employees on leave and coordinates all aspects of their return to work.
- Coordinates centralized leave management program including recording of time in employee time and attendance system. Communication of leave timelines and eligibility to employees and management. Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases. Presents reports as requested.
- Manages STD/LTD programs and vendor relationships. Ensure that disability claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases.
- Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration training programs for managers.
- Ensures all leave-related policies, communication materials, and forms are up to date and in compliance with current laws.
- Coordinates updates to leave management software and ensures interfaces with leave management software, HRIS and time and attendance system are fully functional.
📋 What You Bring
- Minimum of 1 year in HR related field required.
- Leave management experience preferred.
- Experience with HRIS (UltiPro), KRONOS, Leave Management Software, preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
