Description
The Assistant Director will champion both service quality and team growth while ensuring that AIM’s values are reflected in every aspect of the Self-Direction program. They will assist in the creation and training of Self-Direction information and regulations to anyone supported or interested in AIM’s Self-Direction program. To be a change agent, building a program and staff of person-centered professionals that can work together to help people reach their “Power of Potential.” To ensure professional training, certification and retraining is provided for all AIM Services Inc. employees. The Assistant Director is charged with leading all training and staff development initiatives across the Self-Direction department. This includes developing a cohesive and mission-driven team that embodies AIM’s core values and mission. This position requires a passionate, organized, and forward-thinking leader with deep knowledge of Self-Direction services, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree preferred, High School Diploma/ GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years working in the field of Intellectual and Developmental disabilities.
- One year managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous training experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License acceptable to Agency Insurance standards preferred. Maintain valid insurance and provide insurance card if you use your own vehicle.
- Knowledge of OPWDD Regulations.
- Willingness to maintain a 40 hour/week flexible schedule

Essential Functions
- To provide development, implement, and provide oversight to both virtual and on-site education (as needed), training, support, and mentorship to anyone supported by the Self-Direction Program.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of Self-Direction information and education to individuals receiving services, families, and anyone interested in learning more about AIM’s Self-Direction program.
- To consistently communicate training successes and concerns with leadership.
- Promote individualized supports and experiences, ensuring people’s hopes, dreams, and values are priority. Cultivate a culture in which the choices, beliefs, and values of all the people we serve are celebrated.
- Provide education and support regarding Self-Direction policies, procedures, and OPWDD regulations to external individuals or advocates interested in AIM’s Self-Direction program. Promote creative thinking, positive approaches and assisting the individuals to reach their own “power of potential”. Instill excitement to do the “right thing”.
- Innovate and facilitate designing and/or modifying general trainings and materials for representatives and families as well as staff.
- Assist in current and complete documentation of education including matrixes and certification for all employees.
- Assist in establishing standards, policies and procedures to assure maintenance of credentials and staff development.
- Empower team members to embrace AIM’s mission and support individuals in realizing their goals and potential.
