Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Operations Manager to lead and optimize all aspects of our beverage production and packaging operations. This role is responsible for overseeing daily plant activities, including production planning, team leadership, quality control, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate has a strong background in beverage manufacturing and is passionate about driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Direct and manage day-to-day operations of beverage production and packaging.
- Ensure that production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Oversee raw material usage and inventory levels to minimize waste and avoid shortages or delays.
Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor production and packaging staff to achieve operational goals.
- Develop training plans and ensure cross-training of team members to create a flexible and capable workforce.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and development opportunities.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet internal quality standards and comply with applicable food safety regulations (e.g., SQF, GMP, HACCP, FDA).
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Work with QA/QC team to support new product introductions and process improvements.
Process Improvement
- Identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost savings, and process reliability.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing or 5S practices where appropriate.
- Lead root cause analyses and corrective action initiatives related to downtime, defects, or inefficiencies.
Health & Safety
- Champion a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Ensure that all safety audits, training, and reporting are completed as required.
Communication & Collaboration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Procurement, Maintenance, QA, and Logistics.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership regarding KPIs, operational challenges, and progress toward goals.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in beverage manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of production operations, quality control systems, and food safety standards.
- Previous experience in alcohol, soft drinks, bottled water, or juice operations is highly desirable.
Skills
- Excellent leadership and team development skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP or production software a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications in Food Safety, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma are considered assets.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant environment; must be comfortable working around machinery, noise, and variable temperatures.
- Will require flexibility in schedule, including weekends or evening shifts during peak production periods.
