Manufacturing Process Engineer
Our firm has been retained by one of America's most innovative manufacturers to recruit an engineer experienced in manufacturing process improvement.
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a key role in advancing the performance, reliability, and scalability of the company’s manufacturing operations. This position leads initiatives that enhance production processes, streamline material flow, and strengthen standard work across multiple product lines. As an experienced engineer, you will independently manage projects, guide junior team members, and serve as a technical resource within the Operations organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the company’s technologies, system requirements, applicable codes, and historical performance data to support effective decision‑making.
- Create, refine, and maintain manufacturing procedures that support assembly, installation, and long‑term operation of the company’s products.
- Conduct data‑driven evaluations of production processes, identifying opportunities to improve throughput, quality, and material movement.
- Analyze inspection methods and tooling performance, using structured feedback loops to drive productivity and quality improvements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives—including Kaizen events—using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies such as 5S, Kanban, SPC, standard work, and ergonomic assessments.
- Support capital project proposals through ROI modeling, cost‑benefit analysis, and operational impact assessments.
- Develop and maintain clear, accurate SOPs and work instructions to ensure consistent execution across manufacturing and service teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to cross‑functional partners.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Engineering to align priorities and deliver effective solutions.
- Represent the company professionally and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field; Master’s preferred.
- 3–10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing- or process‑focused environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or process‑simulation tools is a plus.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present findings to leadership.
- Demonstrated analytical ability, attention to detail, and independent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and process documentation.
