Job Summary
Job Description for Site Services Technician
The Site Services Worker I is responsible for performing a variety of routine manual tasks in maintaining the appearance and conditions of grounds, walkways, roads and buildings at NY Creates.
The Site Services Technician duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Perform regular inspections of equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust machinery and equipment as needed.
- Replace worn-out parts before they fail.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls promptly.
- Repair or replace, walls, flooring, and other infrastructure elements.
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including leaks, toilets, faucets, and pipes.
- Perform minor carpentry work, including patching walls, fixing furniture, and assembling items.
- Handle basic janitorial tasks like changing light bulbs and maintaining cleanliness in work areas.
- Keep detailed logs of all maintenance activities, including repairs and inspections.
- Report any major repairs or concerns to the supervisor or facility manager.
- Handling Equipment: Operate maintenance tools and machinery safely.
- Ensure all maintenance and grounds tools are properly maintained and stored.
- Complete tasks within reasonable timeframes, especially in emergency situations.
- Be available for on-call maintenance requests outside regular working hours, if required.
- Ensure all work is done to a high standard, with no short cuts taken.
- Be thorough in identifying and addressing issues to prevent future breakdowns.
- Possess a solid understanding of building systems, and general maintenance procedures.
- Identify problems quickly and develop efficient solutions.
- Be proactive in performing regular checks and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
- Communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other staff about maintenance needs and updates.
- Respond to requests for repairs or maintenance in a professional and polite manner.
- Maintain a good level of physical fitness to perform tasks that require strength, such as lifting heavy items, carrying equipment, and working in challenging environments.
- Be able to work in uncomfortable conditions (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, heights).
- Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear when necessary.
- Report any unsafe conditions or potential hazards immediately.
- Maintain a positive relationship with tenants or staff members by addressing their concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
Requirements:
- Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of relevant and progressively responsible experience.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in operating various equipment, including loaders, bobcats, and lawn mowers.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills required to complete payroll tasks and check emails.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
