We are currently seeking a highly experienced project manager with demonstrated experience leading large-scale, complex technology design and implementation projects, preferably public sector, and a history of managing large scale projects comprised of teams from multiple organizations. This position is located in Albany, NY within an initial period of fully on-site during onboarding, knowledge transfer, and demonstration of skilled delivery; Up to 50% remoting off-site available at the managers’ discretion.
Job Duties
- Lead and guide an implementation team comprised of staff from multiple organizations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project processes and artifacts that guide the planning and effective delivery of the project. Periodically review and recommend changes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the project team to define and document the project management deliverables (e.g., project scope, project schedule, project status reports, project cost, roles and responsibilities, quality assurance plan, etc.), project work outputs, and timeline.
- Manage, provide rigorous oversight of, and report on the task completion and timeliness of the project schedule.
- Perform quality control of functional deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness. Mentor and guide the project team on quality assurance to ensure accuracy and alignment with project standards.
- Assist leadership with high-level administrative, managerial, and strategic planning tasks.
- Lead stakeholder communication efforts by preparing clear, concise, and audience-appropriate written materials, including project updates, status reports, executive summaries, and presentations.
- Identify and track action items, risks, issues, and key decisions with project stakeholders. Work with project stakeholders to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
- Report comprehensive project progress, milestones, statuses, risks, and issues to client executives, leadership, and other project stakeholders.
- Measure project performance using industry standard KPIs to track and monitor project overall health, variances in scope/schedule/cost, and any additional areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management).
- Eight (8) years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience successfully shepherding multiple teams to deliver large-scale, complex technology design and implementation projects.
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong business acumen and experience with executive relationship management.
- Ability to quickly learn and operate within a mature, process-heavy ecosystem.
- Exceptional facilitation skills, with a focus on running efficient meetings that lead to clear decisions and actions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to motivate and unify a diverse, hybrid team.
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with projects that implemented an API Gateway and/or SOA (Service Oriented Architecture).
- Direct experience with large-scale HRIS or HCM implementations, particularly cloud products.
- Experience with migrating from on-premises systems to cloud-based SaaS products.
- Experience working with government entities.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or its equivalent
- Information Technologies Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
- Knowledge and experience in agile methodologies, such as Scrum at Scale, and SAFe. CSM/PSM certification and agile at scale certifications.
Annual Salary Range $110,00.00 - $130,000.00
