Our Ballston Spa, NY office is currently hiring a Hydrogeologist within the Environmental Due Diligence, Investigation and Remediation Group. This group provides a full range of environmental due diligence services from initial assessment to remediation and site closure. This is an opportunity for a smart and talented professional to perform in a role with solid growth opportunity. A successful candidate will be able to work closely with existing LaBella Department leadership, mentor rising LaBella staff, provide quality technical guidance and help us to bring practical solutions to our clients. The applicant must have a minimum of five years of experience with one or more NYSDEC remedial program (Spills, State Superfund, BCP, etc.).
Duties
- Oversee subsurface field investigations of varying complexity to characterize environmental contamination using appropriate regulatory standards and guidance
- Conduct, observe, and/or guide hydrogeologic field testing such as pumping tests, and in-situ permeability testing, as appropriate, in overburden and bedrock aquifers
- Direct field and office staff working within project teams to facilitate proper collection of critical data on time and within budget
- Review field and analytical data and perform calculations to support site characterization and inform evaluation and selection of remedial alternatives
- Support and/or direct application of in-situ remedial technologies and design of remedial systems, as appropriate
- Perform periodic review of remedial sites to optimize overall remedial strategy and make recommendations
- Develop technical scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals and work plans
- Prepare and review technical reports including graphical presentation of findings
- Work and communicate effectively with project teams, clients, regulators, and all other stakeholders
- Coordinating work schedules with LaBella staff and subcontractors
- Satisfy internal safety and quality standards
- May require occasional travel for field visits
Requirements
- The Candidate should possess the following minimum Education & Qualifications:
- Passion for Environmental Investigation and Remediation on behalf of clients in both the public and private sector
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field
- Ten (10) to twenty (20) years of progressively responsible experience performing remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and cleanup actions on sites contaminated with petroleum, solvents, PFAS, and metals
- Experience with NYS remedial programs on behalf of public or private sector clients
- Self-motivated with ability to perform assigned tasks independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent technical writing and analytical skills
- Ability to work as part of a fast-paced team, manage workload on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver projects on time
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and up-to-date annual refresher
- Must be highly proficient in MS Office suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- NYS Professional Geologist License preferred
- Familiarity with technical/modeling software, as appropriate to the project
- Project management experience desirable but not required for a technical track individual

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
