Job Description:
The State University of New York (SUNY) seeks a Healthcare Data Analyst in the Office of Health and Hospital Affairs at SUNY System Administration. The Healthcare Data Analyst will provide data-driven insight and analysis essential to the Office of Health and Hospital Affairs (OHHA). This position will manage implementation of data projects, research data management resources, and perform ongoing data analyses on relevant health topics. The ideal incumbent has experience in building capacity for utilizing data to make informed decisions and drive action.
The Healthcare Data Analyst will support complex analysis of sensitive data and critical performance and policy issues. The data analysis will create data dashboards, maintain strong relationships with other data experts in the healthcare finance, healthcare workforce, strategic initiatives, health policy, and student health and wellness fields, and provide data management-related technical assistance and recommendations, as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Assess data needs and lead analysis for team-based projects related to a variety of healthcare matters in healthcare finance, healthcare workforce, strategic initiatives, health policy, and student health and wellness.
- Create and organize, coordinating with internal SUNY partners, large datasets, files, and systems (e.g. SPARCS, ICRs, MCRs, etc.)
- Compile and analyze health care data utilizing advanced qualitative and quantitative skills to assess outcomes
- Develop systems and tools for effective data management, visualization, and interpretation and convey information to internal and external stakeholders
- Access publicly available data from multiple sources and analyze in a manner that provides clear and understandable information to internal and external stakeholders
- Support work on healthcare market analysis and business modeling options
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Able to work in-person, full-time, in Albany, NY
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, education, social sciences, or healthcare related field
- Statistical programming software experience such as experience with statistical programming software such as STATA, Python, SPSS, R, SAS, (or equivalents)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to communicate results of complex analytic findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree in a related field
- Advanced knowledge of statistical methodologies, data analysis techniques, data management, dashboards, modeling, and querying
- Experience utilizing advanced Excel functions such as V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, and model building
- Prior experience with Tableau, Tableau Server, SQL, Redshift desired
- Awareness of population health analytics and healthcare data (eg CPT/HCPCS, ICD10, revenue codes, DRGs, risk scores), Medicare and Medicaid value-based arrangements
- Knowledge of predictive modeling
Additional Information
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $63,000-$75,000 annually.
- The state title for this position is Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
- This position is on-site in Albany, NY. This is not a remote position.
