Admitting Clerk / Accounts Receivable Specialist

Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center (The Bone and Joint Center) is currently seeking candidates for an Admitting Clerk / Accounts Receivable Specialist.

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for patient care and billing accuracy? We’re looking for a hybrid Admitting Clerk / Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our dedicated team at a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center. This role combines front-desk responsibilities with billing and insurance tasks to support smooth, efficient operations and exceptional patient experiences.

Responsibilities:

Front Desk & Admissions

Welcome patients with professionalism and compassion
Verify and update demographic and insurance information
Enter patient details accurately into our electronic medical records system
Collect and reconcile front desk payments; balance cash drawer daily
Coordinate communication between patients, nursing staff, and schedulers
Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards

Billing & Accounts Receivable

Post patient and insurance payments in the billing system
Follow up on outstanding balances and denied claims
Verify insurance benefits before procedures and communicate findings
Assist with patient financial counseling and cost estimates
Process refunds in accordance with policy
Escalate billing issues to the Business Office Team Lead when needed

Qualifications:

Experience: 2+ years in a healthcare or medical billing environment
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Skills:
Knowledge of insurance claims, reimbursement, and basic coding (ICD-10/CPT)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records
Ability to multitask and stay detail-oriented in a fast-paced setting
